Weather Forecasters On Global Warming (By:Thomas Lin)

link to article

In the article Weather Forecasters on Global warming, there is two deifferent sides. The meteorologists are saying the weather is from global warming but the climate scientiests are saying the weather is not from global warming. Meteorologists study short term weather but climate scientiests study long term weather patterns. people are more prone to believing that the weather is from global warming because they hear from the meteorologists in the morning, not from the climate scientiests. “Meteorologists are far more likely than climatologists to question the science of climate change.” On San Diego’s KUSI News, John Coleman, co-founder of the Weather Channel, reported, “Mankind is not destroying our planet.” Bill O’Reilly invited Bill Nye (“The Science Guy”) and Joe Bastardi, an AccuWeather to have there debate.

The argument is effectively supported because there is videos of the debate and they explain why its not global warming and why it could be global warming. There is alot of supporting quotes in the article that is mainly bias to people who believe it is not global warming. It reaches all audiences, for it and against it because it has quotes of scientiest who say its not global warming and they have quotes from meteorologists saying that its arrogant to say that meteorologists convince people that there is global warming.

This article made me feel that meteorlogists do make people think there is global warming because everyone watches the weather channel and what ever the weather man says about the forcast, is what everyone is going to believe. The climate scientists are not being able to get there long term research in the hands of the media; therefore, the weather mens global warming is taking everyones opinion. I read in a blog some where that a hacker found emails that global warming is made up and co2 cannot cause global warming. I personaly think the weather change is from the earth moving closer to the sun.

Saving Private Ryan (Make up blog 2)

My favorite movie is Saving Private Ryan. The first time I saw this movie, I was 14 years old. I have seen many other war movies before Saving Private Ryan, but after I seen that movie, everything changed on what was my view on my favorite movie. This is my favorite movie in may ways. This movie keeps me on my toes the whole time because all of the action and the loud, crystal clear, explosions. I also liked this movie because it is very realistic, the first realistic movie I have ever seen and still is in my book. The movie is realistic because it is very gorey and the Dday invasion scene, gives you that real life action, and gore scene that the troops experienced in WWII. I also love the acting in this movie because all of the characters give you a ruged feel but also you can see what pain they are going through during the movie. For example, Adam Goldberg and Tom Hank's characters cry because they are at war and their riends are being killed. That showed me how good of actors they are and how realistic this movie is. Another reason why this is my favorite movie because the ending always makes me feel upset. This is because Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors and he is the main character in the film, you found out about his life back home, and he is a school teacher, and he is a good leader during the movie and at the end when he dies, it always chokes me up. I love this movie and every element it has for a movie is well done. It will always be my number one movie.

Block or Pastrana? (Make up blog 1)

Which Rally Racer is better, Ken Block or Travis Pastrana? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02Ez2G2Q5HA (Block's vid) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOBTb96-mz0 (Pastrana's vid) From what I have witnessed in tv shows and youtube videos, I think Ken Block is a better rally racer than pastrana and a better free style driver too. This is because Ken Block only does rally racing and has more time to practice his driving, hand brake drifts, and maneuvers but Travis does motocross and rally racing; therefore, he doesnt have as much time to practice in rally like block does. Pastrana is a good driver in the xgames and so is Block but Pastrana does not have his own Gymkahana video. The thing that made my conclusion was, the MTV show Nitro Circus. In Nitro Circus, Travis and Ken had to do a rally car driving competition, to see who was the best driver. Forexample, they each had to drift through a turn and hit eggs that were on the ground, who ever hit the most eggs, won. Ken hit more eggs than Travis and that put together the pieces to the puzzle for me.

Craap test 4 whats crap

Website URl: http://pubs.niaaa.nih.gov/publications/aa67/aa67.htm

My topic is keeping the drinking age 21 and my thesis talks about how underage drinking causes health issues; thus, I looked up health issues from underage drinking and this website poped up. I then started the CRAAP test to see if the website was legit.

The currency part of the Craap test passed because the website was posted January 2006 and the publication page, was posted July 2008. The big factor of currency that passed the test, was that all of the reference links were still active. (no link responded "page not found.") The next part of the Craap test was relevance. The article is relevant to me because it supports how underage drinking effects the brain, liver, and growth of the endocrine. The intended audience is people reading about adolescents drinking. The website has authority because the sponser is the NIAAA and the U.S. department of health and human services. The Url reveals NIAAA and contains (.gov). The website has accuracy because there is no misspelled words and contains correct comma usage. The data in the article has line graphs and links of where it came from. The tone is not bias, it is straight forward. The last part of the the test that went through was the purpose. In the article, the purpose is to inform people about the effects of underage drinking. The website is factual because evidence is greatly supported.

With all of the procedures of the Craap test out of the way, this website will pass and I will use it for my paper. (:

BIG research paper thesis

The drinking age should remain 21. The reasons for this are because underage drinking causes health issues and teenage deaths.

The Four

The four topics that interest me.

#1 The war In Iraq- I think the war in Iraq can go both ways, i agree we should take our troops out of the Middle East because they are getting killed and they have been there for more than 7 years but if we take our soilders out of Iraq, we might lose our security and we may risk having more terrorist attacks to the U.S. From our troops being in Iraq, we have been spending alot of money on the U.S. armed forces but our troops have been finding dangerous weapons and we have captured terriorst leaders. For example, Saddam Hussein.

#2 Lowering the drinking age- I hear alot of 18 year olds saying that the law should be 18 for the drinking age again, but i disagree. I think the age of 21 should remain because drinking at the age lower than 21, can effect brain development and their would be more teenage deaths, from irresponsible drunk driving.

#3 Don't legalize Marijuana- People are always saying that the government should legalize weed. Marijuana is a gate way drug to more harmful substances like Crystal Method and Crack Cocaine. If marijuana was legal, then jobs and school would have a lower attendance.

#4 Raise Minimum wage- Minimum wage should be raised because people are lossing their homes because its harder to pay bills, its harder to support family, and people are overworking them selves to get little money.

I Could Have Been In Stand By Me

There are over a hundred movie and TV characters out there but there is only a few that can be a comparison to ones self. About a year ago, me and my friend Cody, Bobby, and Ben, were watching the movie Stand by Me and we decided to choose what character would best match us and we choose that I would be Gordie Lachance. Once I found out that I had a compare and contrast paper to write for English, Gordie was the first person to pop into my head. I would compare my self to Gordie on behavior, friendship, and family.

Me and Gordie’s behavior are similar in many ways. The first thing I would like to compare in behavior, is that he has sort of a short temper and I have a small one as well. For example, in the movie, they all flip a coin to see who has to go buy food for their camping trip and Gordie lost because he flipped tails, his friend Teddy says, “Ohh Gordie! Look who screwed the pooch.” After his friend said that, his short temper kicked in for retaliation and he said a simple come back of, “does the word retard mean anything to you?”. I am the same way, short tempered and quick with retaliations, when someone says an insult to me, I will quickly say something back. The second thing in behavior me and Gordie have similarities in, is we both like to keep things to our selves. In the movie, his character narrates that while he was sitting on the train tracks reading his comic book, a deer was only a few feet from him but he didn’t tell his friends because he wanted to keep it to him self. I like to keep things to my self as well, I am very quiet, when I am by myself, around other people, and I would preferably sit in the back of the room and not disturb anyone at all.

"Be Prepared For The Future"

If I had a bumper sticker, it would say “be prepared for the future.” I chose this bumper sticker because the future is important and everything we do is to be prepared for the future.
The future is important because it is how we are going to live and what careers we are going to take on. For example, if someone does not have a good high paying career than it is going to be difficult to live in this economy. Another reason why it is important to have a good career and a good future is to support your family and to live a healthy life.
Everything we do is to be prepared for the future. For example, everyone goes through high school, to get to college. When people are in college, they are learning every step they need to know so they can be prepared for the career they want to go in. People work hard so they can live in that big house one day and drive that nice BMW.
Bumper stickers mean so many things but that is the reason why I would write “be prepared for the future” on my bumper sticker.
